Set up steps

The onboarding process gives students the opportunity to make sure everything is working correctly during low-pressure circumstances. It also gives students time to make any changes to their system well before the first exam.

It is recommended that the student complete an Onboarding test at least 7 days before their final exam date. This will identify if there are any issues and give you the time to contact your instructor before the final.

The Onboarding test can be found in your course site under the Proctortrack heading in the course menu.

  • To start your Onboarding test, login to Humber Blackboard .

  • Select the course code of the class you need to take the exam for under MyCourses.

  • In the course site, go to the heading, Proctortrack in your course menu. *If this heading is not in the course, please contact your instructor.

  • You will be directed to the Proctortrack Dashboard which will walk you through the process.

  • In the Proctortrack Dashboard where it mentions Onboarding Test, click on the “Go to Test” button to start the process.

  • For screenshots and full instructions on setting up your account, please click on the Proctortrack Info PDF provided at the bottom of this page.

Students can fail onboarding for the following reasons:

  • Facial scan missing or insufficient

  • ID scan missing or insufficient

  • ID scan shows invalid ID (ID should have a photo and match the student’s name in Blackboard). Valid ID should be a driver’s license or Humber student ID.

  • Environment lighting insufficient (dark room or back lit subject).

If a student fails the Onboarding exam, they will receive a notification listing the specific reasons for failure and be asked toretake the Onboarding exam.

Contact your instructor, as there may be an issue with the password set up.

What happens if I lose Internet connectivity or my browser crashes while doing an exam?

The exam will submit answers to that point in Blackboard and depending on the exam, it will not allow you to proceed. Most exams are set with one attempt by the instructor. If this happens, contact your instructor asap to advise of issue. *Note, your instructor may have provided their contact information for this type of issue in your course site, if not email them within Blackboard.

General Questions

Why do we use ProctorTrack?

In March 2020, eCampusOntario and the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities established a partnership to provide the province’s 45 public colleges and universities with limited-time access to Proctortrack by Verificient, an online solution that enables academic continuity with the transition to emergency remote exam delivery. What about my data? What about my privacy?

Details regarding data storage and privacy can be found here – https://www.ecampusontario.ca/proctortrack-faq/data-storage-and-privacy/where-is-data-stored-and-for-how-long/.

Why do I need a photo ID? What forms of ID are acceptable?

The photo and name provided in the Onboarding test are compared with those provided before each test. A college issued student ID or government issued photo ID (such as a learner’s permit or driver’s license) will work. Make sure the name is the same in Blackboard and that ID or they may conflict.

How do I prepare my testing environment?

  • Ensure your face is clearly visible – Hair, sunglasses, hats or anything that covers your face can cause test to be flagged for low integrity. Eyeglasses are accepted.

  • Create the proper lighting – Sit in a consistently well-lit room with as plain a background as possible . Do not sit with a window behind you as this will make your face harder to see.

  • Turn Off All Noise-Making Devices – Mobile phones set to vibrate emit detectable sound and any sound from a mobile device is flagged as a violation.

  • Sit Directly in Front of Your Webcam- Make sure to stay in the middle of the webcam’s view. Leaving the frame or looking away from the test will result in a low integrity grade.

  • Use a private testing area – Sit upright in an area where other people won’t talk and cannot pass behind you. Someone talking to you or making a lot of noise will be flagged as an issue.

What does Proctortrack monitor?

During proctoring sessions, Proctortrack monitors:

  • The video feed from your webcam.

  • Eye movements.

  • Audio levels in your environment.

  • Hardware devices connected to your computer.

  • The names of any applications or processes running on your system.

  • Whatever is visible on your screen.

  • Keystrokes.

  • The identity of the individual taking the exam (this is checked continuously).
