This course examines the broad field of developmental disabilities from many perspectives. Topics covered include: historical perspectives; changing attitudes to developmental disabilities; laws protecting people who have intellectual disabilities; causes, prevention and emerging research; advocacy, growth, inclusion, and empowerment of people who have developmental disabilities; issues facing families with members who are intellectually disabled; and inclusive education..
