This course will focus on oral and written communication skills utilized within professional environment. First part of the course will focus on enhancing writing, editing, and comprehension strategies of students. Some of the elements discussed in the course will include importance of grammar and spelling, proper editing, organizing, and summarizing scientific documents, as well as becoming familiar with different types of internal and external business communications. The second part of the course focuses on the regulatory affairs context for interpersonal transactions. Students will enhance their interpersonal communication skills by developing active listening, presentation and interviewing skills. Understanding of personal effectiveness, organizational dynamics and conflict resolution strategies assist students in developing skills for collaborative problem solving approaches in professional relationships. Self-assessment and feedback are used throughout the course to enhance understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses and to help the student set personal goals.
