This course is designed to provide the nurse with the comprehensive knowledge and skill required for the provision of nursing and inter-professional care for clients who are critically ill and present with complex needs. Emphasis is placed on the accurate analysis of hemodynamic stability using different types of waveform, diagnostic, lab, and health assessment data that are used for planning and evaluating advanced care. Pre and post-operative care for clients undergoing cardiac surgical intervention, care of clients with cardiogenic shock, and other acute care cardiology concepts are examined. To successfully meet all course learning objectives, students will be required to engage in both independent and collaborative group learning activities on a consistent basis.
