This course provides students with the opportunity for in-depth study of the concepts and processes that occur in biological systems. Students will study the theory (and conduct investigations) in the areas of biochemistry, metabolic processes, molecular genetics, homeostasis and population dynamics. Emphasis will be placed on the achievement of detailed knowledge and refinement of (communication) skills needed for further study in various branches of the life sciences and related fields.
Note: This course was developed using the course description from the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum policy document and has been evaluated as equivalent to the comparable OSSD course SBI4U. U-Stream Biology is designed to prepare students to succeed in postsecondary programs requiring U-stream courses. (SBI4U) The course is 120 hours in length. A textbook is required. This course is available only on a fee-paying basis. There are no prerequisites for this course.
