The Core Mathematics course is designed to give students a grounding in varied aspects of Mathematics, including numeric and algebraic operations; measurement and geometry; collecting, displaying and analyzing data; mathematical relationships; statistics and probability; and simple and compound interest. Core Mathematics provides students with the mathematical foundation they need in order to move on to the other ACE Mathematics courses: Apprenticeship, Technical and Business Mathematics.
The course serves as the MCTU's acknowledged equivalent of Mathematics for Work and Everyday Life, Grade 12, Workplace Preparation MEL4E. *A student is exempt from taking ACE Core Math only if he/she has the equivalent math or more (school board or Academic Upgrading) math within the past 10 years with a 70% mark or better. Students must fax their high school or college transcript to Arlene Cronin at firstname.lastname@example.org for approval.
